Broxburn and Uphall Community Website is the outcome of the original Uphall On The Web (which went live in May 2002) and Broxburn Community Website merging in June 2018.

In October 2019, the volunteers who manage the website submitted an application for Charitable status to the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator. In March 2020, charitable status was granted to the Broxburn & Uphall Community Website Trust (SC050044).

The purposes of the trust are:

  1. To promote, for the public benefit, the advancement of environmental protection and improvement, the advancement of education, the advancement of heritage and the arts and the advancement of community development and citizenship in Broxburn, Uphall and district
  2. To pursue the above ends by means of exhibitions, lectures, publicity, events, collaboration and participation with other organisations including schools and committees, and the promotion of schemes or any other activities of a charitable nature

Some of the powers of the trust include:

  • To maintain and develop the Broxburn and Uphall Community Website at www.broxburnanduphall.com – with content including information on organisations, businesses, events guide, records and photographs; To prepare reports and schedules of historical records, to collect, collate and preserve pictorial and literary records; To make such representations to official bodies as in the opinion of the Trust may be necessary to safeguard the objects of the Trust and the public interest; To promote schemes of a charitable nature in accordance with the foregoing objects.
